In Greek mythology, Kheiron (also spelled Chiron) is the half-human and half-horse foster child of the god Apollo who taught him the healing arts. Kheiron soon became known for his knowledge in herbal medicine, astrology, and surgery. After his death, Kheiron was placed into the heavens as the constellation Sagittarius.
